MVB Digital Banking Conversion FAQs

*This document is intended only for former First State Bank Clients. Its purpose is to assist with the conversion from First State Bank Online Banking to MVB Bank Digital Banking.

When you log into MVB Digital Banking, much of your account information, scheduled bill payments and other features will already be in place and ready for you to access.

How do I log into MVB Digital Banking?

Please note that your first login must be from a non-mobile browser such as a PC, laptop or Mac using Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari or Firefox. This will enable you to accept agreements, validate your email address and establish your permanent password prior to using our mobile apps.

Go to www.mvbbanking.com and select Log In in the top, right corner.

  • Username: Enter your First State Bank username
  • Password: Enter the last four digits of your social security number

Will I be able to view my First State Bank account history?

Yes. Your First State Bank account history prior to August 14, 2020, will convert to MVB Digital Banking and be available to view on August 18, 2020. 

Will I be able to transfer between my accounts through MVB Digital Banking?

If you had access to perform transfers between accounts through First State Bank Online Banking, you should also have this same access through MVB Digital Banking.  

*Exceptions to this would be if you have personal and business co-mingled accounts through First State Bank Online Banking.


Online Bill Pay

Important dates

  • August 7, 2020 – 5:00pm EST is the cutoff time for submitting new online bill payments through First State Bank Online Banking.  
  • August 13, 2020 – First State Bank online bill pay access will be turned off at 7:00pm EST.
  • August 17, 2020 – Your MVB online bill pay service will be ready for access once you have logged into MVB Digital Banking.

Will all pre-scheduled bill payments continue over the weekend of August 14, even though I cannot access the MVB online bill pay service?

Yes. All existing and scheduled payments will be processed as scheduled.

Will all my payees and past payments carry over to the MVB online bill pay service?

Yes. All existing payees will be converted to the MVB online bill pay service and you will be able to view 12 months of bill payment history for existing payees.

What about the payments and recurring payments I have scheduled for future dates?

Scheduled payments will be transferred to MVB online bill pay and you will see them listed in your scheduled bill pay activity once you have successfully logged into MVB Digital Banking.

When can I add new bills or payments to my MVB Digital Banking account?

On August 17, you may add new payees or schedule payments upon logging into MVB Digital Banking.

Will my notifications and eBills (electronic billing statements for an eBill capable payee such as a credit card company) carry over to MVB Digital Banking?

Notifications that are set up on First State Bank online bill pay and Online Banking will not carry over to MVB Digital Banking. Once you have successfully logged into MVB Digital Banking, you can set up notifications and alerts for both general account usage and for MVB online bill pay.

eBills will also not be converted. Once you have logged into MVB Digital Banking, you may enroll in eBills for your payees that offer this service.


Mobile & Text Banking 

When will I have access to mobile and text banking?

On August 17, once you have successfully completed your initial login to MVB Digital Banking, you can download and log into Digital Banking using the MVB Mobile App (titled MVB Banking in your mobile app store).

What about text message banking and alerts?

Once you have logged into MVB Digital Banking, you can set up text message banking and alerts. You can access mobile banking and alerts from the AlertPreferencemenu under your accounts. 


Mobile Deposit

I currently use the First State Bank app for mobile deposits. Will I have access to that service with MVB?

Yes. If you currently use the mobile deposit feature on the First State Bank app, your access for that service will automatically carry over to the MVB mobile app.

What are MVB’s mobile deposit limits?

MVB’s standard mobile deposit limits are as follows*:

Per deposit limit: $2,000.00

Per day limit: $2,000.00

30-day limit: $15,000.00

*If you have previously been approved for a higher mobile deposit limit, we will place you in an MVB mobile deposit limit tier with a comparable limit. 


Online Statements

Will I be able to view my First State Bank online statements?

Your previous First State Bank online statements will be available to access within MVB Digital Banking during the fourth quarter, 2020. 

Do I need to re-enroll in online statements with MVB?

No. If you are already enrolled in online statements through First State Bank, your MVB online statements will be automatically activated. The first time you access the MVB online statements feature, you will be prompted to accept the terms of service for this product. Your MVB online statement history will begin with your first statement in September.

What if I need access to my First State Bank statement history at some point in the future?

We recommend you print or save your current online statements in case you need them within the next few months.


Alerts & Notifications

Will any of my transaction or balance alerts carry over to MVB Digital Banking?

Your customized alerts and notifications will not carry over to MVB Digital Banking. Once you have successfully logged in, you can configure both account and bill payment alerts to suit your individual needs.

  • Account alerts can be accessed from the Alert Preferences tab under each individual account. From this screen you can setup text message alerts, email alerts and in-app notifications. 
  • Payment alerts and reminders can be customized from the Payments tab by clicking on My Account and then Notifications.

P2P (Person-to-Person) Payments 

I currently use P2P payments through First State Bank. Will this service be available once I am an MVB client?

Yes, MVB offers a P2P payment solution. You may utilize the MVB online bill pay service to make P2P payments to individuals.

External Transfers 

Does MVB offer an external transfer service to and from my accounts at other institutions?

Yes, MVB offers an external transfer service. Once you have successfully logged into MVB Digital Banking, you will need to enroll and setup your external accounts for transfer access. This can be done within the Transfer tab. 

I have external transfers scheduled for dates beyond August 14. Will these carry over to MVB’s external transfer service?

Scheduled external transfers will not be converted. Once you have enrolled in MVB’s external transfer service and set up your external accounts, you will need to set up any future scheduled transfers you wish to take place.


Quicken® & QuickBooks® Support 

Does MVB support Quicken and QuickBooks?

Yes. MVB Digital Banking supports Web Connect (OFX) for Intuit’s Quicken and QuickBooks products. Please follow the instructions provided by your software provider for connecting to MVB.
